Drew Doughty just barely avoids getting destroyed by Matthew Tkachuk.

This feels like the beginning of a rivalry that may last for quite some time.

On Wednesday night the Calgary Flames and Los Angeles Kings faced off for the first time since Flames rookie Matthew Tkachuk delivered a big elbow to Kings star defenseman Drew Doughty. While Tkachuk dropped the gloves earlier in the game, it was clear that he intended to continue going after Doughty and he did just that.

One of the big highlights came midway in the second period when Tkachuk attempted to deliver what would have been a bone-crushing hit at center ice. Thankfully for Doughty, he saw the big hit coming and just barely managed to avoid the worst of it.

This one is far from over.
