The Boston Bruins played the Blue Jackets last night in what many fans felt was a repeat of last season. Until the third period, that is. With all the new faces in the team, and an energy and chemistry that looks to be renewed, the Bruins retained their reputation of being a third period team
Here’s a recap of the game:
1-0 BLUE JACKETS
Tuukka Rask didn’t look ready, and that was demonstrated with the weak goal accorded to the Jackets’ Alexander Wennberg. This happens to be the first shot Rask faced since the World Cup. I wasn’t a fan, but the game isn’t over yet.
2-0 BLUE JACKETS
Cam Atkinson, of the Blue Jackets, gives his team a bigger lead. A nice powerplay setup that lead to this second goal.
2-1 BLUE JACKETS
Our boy Pasta scores his first goal of the season, assisted by none other than Brad Marchand!
3-1 BLUE JACKETS
Seth Jones scores the third and last goal for the Jackets. Little did they know that this goal pulled the bear out of hibernation.
3-2 BLUE JACKETS
Welcome to the Bruins, Backes! First goal in a Spoked-B jersey, and one that just opened the floodgates on Bobrovsky. This is also when the dreaded Blue Jackets cannon stops going off. They’ve been silenced.
3-3 TIE GAME
David Backes again! Made the damage that much more serious.
4-3 BRUINS
None other than Brad Marchand! I really don’t need to say much here.
5-3 BRUINS
Marchand, again!
6-3 BRUINS
David Pastrnak adds insult to injury. Empty-netter.
This victory tasted good. The Bruins demonstrated character, grit, and overall unity winning this game. I wonder how John Tortorella took this defeat, when his team had the lead. He always gives interesting press conferences.
The Bruins face the Toronto Maple Leafs next, this Saturday October 15. Puck drops at 7 pm ET.
GO BRUINS GO!
