Gritty steals the show in new HNIC intro.

I have to admit I was not a fan of the Philadelphia Flyers new mascot when it was first unveiled but they have done such a great job marketing the hideous monstrosity known as Gritty that the hairy orange guy has started to grow on me.

It's not just me either, there's no question that Gritty has been taking the world of the National Hockey League, and even the greater hockey world at large, by storm and his popularity has skyrocketed after a number of great public relations and marketing placements by the Flyers organization. In fact Gritty's popularity has even crossed over into different countries.

On Saturday night the Philadelphia Flyers were in Montreal at the Centre Bell to take on the Montreal Canadiens and even the Hockey Night in Canada Broadcast has apparently caught Gritty fever. The intro to the game was specifically tailored to the match up between the Flyers and the Canadiens as is usually the case, but there was no question who was the star of the show.
