Lightning player leaves game after elbow to head
z

Jonathan Drouin might want to learn to keep his head up when playing the New York Islanders.

After getting destroyed last season by Thomas Hickey, last night he took an elbow to the head from Calvin de Haan. Drouin left the game after the hit, barely 2 minutes into the first period and didn't return. Drouin reached for the puck to push it past de Haan before taking the hit. It put him in a vulnerable position and the main point of contact was the head. Ryan Callahan came to the defense of his young teammate and dropped the gloves with de Haan.

Chances are that the de Haan hit will most likely be viewed by the league to see if there will be need for supplementary discipline. de Haan received a major for interference and another for fighting Callahan. The fact Drouin was reaching might be in de Haan's favor, however the main point of contact was the head so we will have to wait and see what the league decides.
