One of the National Hockey League's captains is on the receiving end of criticism after a video has surfaced showing what appears to be a rather blatant dive.

Detroit Red Wings captain Henrik Zetterberg was taking on the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday night when he grabbed the stick of Tampa Bay Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov in a rather effective attempt to draw a penalty.

Zetterberg pulled Kucherov's stick towards himself and then proceeded to crash to the ice, causing the official on the other side of the rink to immediately raise his arm for the penalty call.

There's no doubting the fact that Zetterberg's technique accomplished it's intended goal, and you could even say that it was masterfully executed by the NHL veteran. That being said the reaction to the play has been largely negative and given how unfavorably hockey fans view diving it should come as no surprise.
