In Tuesday’s 8-2 blowout over the Vegas Golden Knights, Edmonton Oilers youngster Jesse Puljujarvi showed off not only some great skill, but also some great tenacity and defensive effort. The kid is rounding into the all-around player that the Oilers need and his extra effort is not going unnoticed by teammates and the team’s coaching staff.

Check out this sequence in which Puljujarvi blocks a shot from Vegas' Brayden McNabb, breaks his stick, chases the puck down, retrieves a new stick, checks McNabb and makes a play.

You want to talk about new age toughness in the NHL? THAT’S tough. This kid has some real jam, hopefully he can find his scoring touch with the Oilers, because they could certainly use more from this kid.
