Now this is a moment that every long time fan of the National Hockey League.

As most of you probably already know veteran National Hockey League forward Scott Hartnell announced that he was officially retiring from professional hockey earlier this year. It was a heartbreaking announcement for many fans around the league due to the fact that Hartnell was one of the most universally beloved players around the NHL as a result of he and his wife, Katie Hartnell, doing extensive work in the communities for which he played for during his career in the NHL.

Hartnell has not been sitting idle though since his retirement as he and his wife welcomed their first child into the world earlier this year, a little boy named William Douglas Hartnell. Now there's no doubt that being a new, and especially for the first time, papa is more than enough to keep any man busy full time and Hartnell proved that very fact on Saturday night. For the first time, at least to my knowledge, Hartnell revealed his beautiful baby boy to the world when he and his wife Katie were at the game being played between the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Washington Capitals.

Hartnell and Katie were at rink side, likely as guests of the Blue Jackets organization for whom Hartnell played with for many years, and he could be seen bouncing baby William up and down as he tried to keep the young man in good spirits while surrounded by so many people and likely by nearly as many cameras.

The best part about the moment however was seeing the joy on Hartnell's face who appeared to be completely caught up with the attention he was giving baby William, almost as if he didn't notice the masses cheering for him. Of course he did notice though and took a moment to acknowledge the cameras with a smile, as did wife Katie, although it was clear that baby William had all of their attention.

It's a new test in life for Hartnell, one that will likely prove a tougher challenge than the NHL ever will, and I wish him nothing but the best of success.
