Preseason getting heated!

It may only be the preseason but don't tell that to the Carolina Hurricanes or the Nashville Predators.

It's the final day of the 2018 National Hockey League preseason but by the time things were all said and done at PNC Arena in North Carolina the game had much more of a playoff atmosphere to it than a preseason one. Although both sides were largely playing for nothing there were a large number of both team's core rosters on the ice on Sunday afternoon and perhaps that played a factor in the intensity of the game. Players on both sides are coming off the long summer layoff and were likely eager to get back into, but when emotions run high it can lead to a chain reaction.

The Hurricanes lost veteran goaltender Scott Darling in the first period of the game to what appears to be an injury, although that has not been officially confirmed, and that likely had them primed to be riled up already, but that wasn't when things really heated up. The credit for that probably belongs to veteran Predators defenseman P.K. Subban who definitely had his emotions going full throttle in this game.

Subban got the attention of the Carolina Hurricanes when he delivered what resembled a forearm shot to the chest and rib area of Hurricanes star forward Sebastien Aho and it seemed like from that moment the game got considerably more physical on both ends of the ice. Subban was awarded a penalty on the play, although there has been plenty of debate already about whether or not the penalty should have been awarded, but it was the Hurricanes were now out for revenge.

That revenge didn't come however until after Subban appeared to go knee on knee with Hurricanes forward Teuvo Teravainen at the blue line, that's when tempers on both sides truly boiled over. Hurricanes forward Micheal Ferland came over and delivered a nasty looking spear to Subban, clearly motivated by revenge for the two perceived cheap shots from Subban. Needless to say Subban himself wasn't too thrilled about the retaliation from Ferland but both men were escorted off to the penalty box before things could go beyond that. Fans in the building clear felt Subban deserved the cheap shot however cause they cheered both for the spear and cheered again when Subban was escorted to the box

It was there however that you could see Subban truly lost his cool, the overhead camera showing him yellow across the bench at what appeared to be fans in the crowd. Thankfully one of those fans in the crowd captured the entire thing on what is honestly a very well shot video considering all the commotion around them. As you would expect you can hear the typical fans you would expect in the audience but nonetheless is does a wonderful job of capturing just how angry Subban was.

Update: Another angle appears to show that Subban was not yelling at fans in the crowd but instead at Michael Ferland who also appears to be talking some smack of his own right back at Subban.
