A massive fail.

The Vancouver Canucks were already down 1-0 to the visiting Detroit Red Wings, but apparently Canucks defenseman Chris Tanev is a big fan of challenges.

The Detroit Red Wings were on the power play late in the games second period and after a shot on goal led to a scramble in front of the Canucks net, Tanev scooped up the puck before firing it into the back of his own net.

It's not clear if Tanev deliberately fired the puck into his own net due to a moment of confusion or if he merely whiffed on the attempt to get the puck away from the front of the net, but Red Wings forward Anthony Mantha may have played a role as it looks like he may have pushed Tanev's stick with his own.

In the end t will go down as an unassisted power-play goal for Detroit's Martin Frk.
