The NHL's top fights of the week.

We don't see nearly as many fights as we used to in the National Hockey League and even when we do get a fight in the modern day it is usually a far cry from the kind of bangers that we used to see back in the day. That being said this week actually saw quite a few incidents across the National Hockey League in which players decided to drop their gloves to settle their differences, and what makes that all the more surprising is the fact that many of the players involved in those fights this weeks are guys you would not normally expect to see dropping the gloves.

Thankfully if you missed any of this week's fireworks the guys over at Sportsnet have got you covered with a compilation video of all the best moments of the week, specifically as it pertains to fighting in the NHL. Now I will admit that the majority of these are the kind of tepid and relatively mild fights that we unfortunately have come to expect in the modern NHL, but there were also quite a few pleasant surprises in here as well.

The best fight of the week has to go to the exchange between two long time NHL veterans, a fight that occurred between Dallas Stars forward Joe Pavelski and Boston Bruins veteran forward David Krejci. Krejci is definitely not a player that has made his name off of using his fists to settle his disputes and although Pavelski, the former San Jose Sharks captain, has had more experience than Krejci in that domaine he is also a player that has primarily been known for his skill with the puck throughout his career. In spite of the fact that both of these guys are in the later stages of their respective careers they definitely brought it and no doubt earned even more respect than they already had from their teammates as well as their respective fan bases.

An honourable mention also has to go to Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price and Ottawa Senators forward Brady Tkachuk who traded a few quick blows during a game that took place last weekend. Although we didn't get to see much of this one, with the NHL officials actually having to physically restrain Price, it is likely of a sign of things to come between two guys who play for bitter rivals.
