Video: Jonathan Toews takes a nasty elbow to the head.

It didn't take long for the National Hockey League to get this one on it's radar.

According to a report from Chicago Blackhawks insider Mark Lazerus the National Hockey League made the decision to take this play under review just moments after it took place on the ice, and given the fact that superstar Jonathan Toews was the victim in this case, it comes as no surprise.

On Wednesday night Toews was hit by an ugly charging elbow from Philadelphia Flyers forward Chris VandeVelde who did a very poor job of keeping his arms tucked at his side on the play. In fact VandeVelde had his arm way up on the play, so much so that commentator Pierre McGuire was even surprised at just how blatant it was.
