To say that Brad Richards has failed to meet expectations through the first 4 games of the season would be an understatement. When the Chicago Blackhawks signed the much maligned veteran they had hoped the up and down nature of his performances over the last 2 years would be left behind in New York. But the resurgence of Brad Richards has yet to show itself in Chicago. One positive is that Richards is keenly aware that he, and the Blackhawks third line are not performing to the level they should be. "We haven't been that good yet," Richards said when reached for comment by ESPN. "We're working on it. Kind of got thrown together last second. Had a little bit more zone time last game. But like I said, everything is a work in a progress. Trying to figure it out. "It doesn't seem like we've played a lot of hockey. I'm kind of wishing there was more games, so you can get into a rhythm and try to get out there and feel more comfortable. That's the way it is. We're getting a lot of practice time. Just every day is a work in progress." Richards does have a point, The Blackhawks have played far fewer games then teams like the Boston Bruins for example, and coach Quenville is optimistic more ice time will improve the situation. "Yeah, he's definitely had a lot of newness," Quenneville said. "New city, new team, new organization, new dad, new baby, all great, new experiences and it's all going to turn out fine. All at once, new season and linemates, regularly, hopefully he gets familiar with that group. It has the makings of a real nice line. We get everyone rolling. We saw signs of that last game, playing the right way across the board. We're close." What are your thoughts on Richards thus far? Are you ready to call the move a bust? Or are you favoring the wait and see approach?
