"The Bloody Sock Game," refers to Curt Schilling's legendary performance in Game 6 of the 2004 ALCS against the Yankees. It is widely considered one of the most epic games in not only professional baseball history, but Boston sports lore as well.
There was much speculation behind the injury at the time, and even ten years later many people had never seen how gruesome the injury was beneath Schilling's bloody sock.
On Wednesday, Schilling put all the speculation to rest by tweeting out an old photo of his surgically repaired ankle, and as you can see playing on this could not have been an easy feat.
Unbelievably, some people actually thought that the "blood" on Schilling's sock was ketchup, and it was all a ploy to attract drama. They said there was not enough blood to warrant such an injury.
They are going to have to eat crow now, as this explicitly shows the injury was for real. They can never question again the amazing performance that Schilling put forth that day.
