A burning question for a lot of Red Wings fans is when will Pavel Datsyuk make his return. As many of you know Datsyuk got hurt during the preason opener on September 22nd and he is expected to be out for at least another week. However what many haven't considered is what impact will this have on the current Red Wings line up. In spite of coming away with only two points the Red Wings have looked good to open the season and the return of Datsyuk will require some manoeuvrings from GM Ken Holland. The most likely result will be Thomas Jurco being sent down as he is their only waiver-exempt player at the moment. Some other options would include vetaran Daniel Cleary who didn't have a great preseaon and has been a healthy scratch so far in the regular season or possibly Andrej Nestrasil but the Wings may not want to risk Nestrasil getting picked up on waivers. One thing is for sure injuries have not been kind to the Wings and a move will need to be made especially with the possible return of Alfredsson looming as well.
