With the news of Mike Richard now being put on waivers by the Los Angeles Kings, there have been may rumors and thoughts spread around the league. Why not, it's not every day you can add a player like Mike Richards to your team without it costing you anything except for cap space. Obviously there are quite a few teams that are already tight against the cap, but that gives more chance to those with cap space available. Take the Flames, who currently have over 12 million in cap space according to NHLnumbers.com. Richards 5.75 million cap hit could be easily absorbed by the Flames. Richards has won two cups with the Kings and been to the finals with the Flyers. He could be a great mentor for young players like Sean Monahan, Johnny Gaudreau and the other young players on the team. If only some of his experience were to rub off on all of them, that could be a huge boost. Obviously this is all wishful thinking, but it's always fun to think what could be!
