There are an unlimited amount of stats used to compare teams and sort out how dominant or impressive a team can be.
Usually playoff teams tend to dominate a certain stat. That is puck possession. Teams that usually have good seasons tend to carry the play and outscore their opponents 5 on 5. How well a team does 5 on 5 is always talked about because normally if you do well 5 on 5, it means good things for your team. A team cant survive just having a good power play or penalty kill.
It is this stat that the Flames are way down when it comes to possession yet they are still holding on to a playoff spot. So that just goes to show how good the Flames have been. The Flames opponent has an average possession around 60%, so the Flames have to get it done with only 40% of possession.
The Flames are getting it done and that is all that matters, keep on surprising everyone guys! Let's get to the playoffs!
