The Boston Bruins ended their training camp with a 4-3 pre-season record, dropping the last game in a shootout loss to the Detroit Red Wings, despite a Patrice Bergeron hat trick.
Riley Sheahan had a goal and an assist for Detroit; Xavier Ouellet and Andrej Nestrasil scored less than eight minutes apart in the second period to help the Red Wings build a 3-1 lead. Nestrasil also scored in the shootout.
Bergeron brought the team back in the game, scoring 3:14 into the second period before erasing the two-goal lead with goals 7:32 apart in the third.
Gustav Nyquist scored the clincher in the shootout to end the bout.
The Bruins begin the regular season at TD Garden on October 8 against the Philadelphia Flyers.
