The New York Rangers experienced a scary moment early in the second period of Saturday’s game against the Carolina Hurricanes, when a shot got under Henrik Lundqvist’s mask and hit him in the throat.
At the 17:00 mark of the second frame the Hurricanes were circling the puck around the Rangers zone. Canes’ forward Brad Malone took a high, rising shot that caught Lunqvist under his protective neck guard.
Lundqvist was down for a while and looked to be in a fair amount of distress. Fans at MSG chanted “Henry!” in support for him. Amazingly, Lundqvist was able to recover and continue the game.
Today Lundqvist tweeted an amazing photograph of the shot striking him in the neck. This is one save that will be immortalized for Rangers fans.
