The Vancouver Canucks are recognized as one of the better teams in Canada, not only in terms of the on ice product year in and year out, but in terms of terms of their fan base, one of the most passionate and most loyal. However as the Canucks have struggled over the last few seasons, both on the ice and in terms of public image, it appears the franchise has lost some of it's luster in Vancouver. The Canucks for the first time in 12 years failed to sell out a game this week end, that may not seem like a big deal at first, but when you consider that Vancouver had sold out 474 straight games, the third longest active sellout streak in North American, it comes as a bit of a shock. Of course factors such as the Canucks refusing to drop ticket prices in spite of a 40% drop off in demand, and the diminished quality of the on ice product, naturally lead to something like this, but it's sad to see the streak end. The Canucks aren't worried though, in a letter sent to season ticket holders. Victor de Bonis expressed he felt the Canucks would sell out many more games this year.
