With the Bruins having a few too many blue liners remaining on their roster this late into the preseason, and the fact that they are right up against the NHL's salary cap, the trade rumors are starting to swirl in Boston. ESPN's Joe McDonald suggested that the Bruins might be looking to trade Johnny Boychuk to the New York Islanders in order to provide the cap space needed to sign free agents Torey Kurg and Reilly Smith. Smith and Krug have since signed cap friendly deals (1.4 million  each over one year) but that still leaves the Bruins 3.6 million over the 69 million dollar salary cap limit.  Boychuk is not a piece I would move, but with his no trade clause and him becoming a UFA next year, I can see why Boston would be looking to move him. Adam McQuaid may be the more likely candidate to make his way out of Boston before the start o the regular season. McQuaidm who's cap hit is just over 1.5 million, only allows you to free up half the cap space of a Johnny Boychuk, but is far less of a loss on the blue line than Boychuk would be. McQuaid also lacks a no trade clause, making him significantly easier to move but again the cap is an issue. There is a possibility that the Bruins place forward Marc Savard on the long term IR list. This move would free up 4 million in cap space and could help solve the Bruins issues. Who would you keep? Who would you trade? Let us know in the comments below.
