Two members of the Detroit Red Wings have ensured that this Christmas will be a very special one for 20 of Detroit's children.
In partnership with two of Detroit's local charities, Gametime and Dekeyser's Hoemtown Heroes, Luke Glendening and Danny Dekeyser walked children up and down he isles of Meijer in Northville. Each child was given $125 dollars to spend on themselves, and it appears by all accounts that it was a wonderful experience for both the players and the children.
Larry Johns was one of the parents at the event, his daughter Loren got to have her very own shopping spree, and Johns believes it will make this Christmas a memorable one for here:
“Because of the challenges she faces, she misses out on a lot of other opportunities," Larry Johns said. "So this is an opportunity for her to celebrate who she is as an individual and be recognized."Detroit Red Wing Luke Glendening also shared his feelings on the special occasion:
“It’s special to be able to give back and be around these kids and their families is exciting for me, to know they’re gonna have a good Christmas is special.”A great job by these two awesome guys, you can see a whole bunch of pictures from the event courtesy of an Imgur user.
