With now just under a month until the trade deadline, teams are gearing up for their push to the playoffs and are trying to evaluate what they need to add or subtract depending on their position in the standings.
For Detroit, they will potentially look to bolster their lineup to give a good push to end the year and have a good playoff run. The Wings, unless a massive breakdown, look to be on their way to once again make the playoffs. They have a had a great year considering they were not expected to be where they are in the standings. Just goes to prove the value of coach Babcock.
Coach Babcock and GM Ken Holland recently discussed what coach Babcock thinks he needs to add. The one positive is that the Wings don't have any pressing holes. Obviously having Jimmy Howard go down with an injury is never good but Petr Mrazek has been playing some solid hockey in his absence.
So we will have to see what Ken Holland decides to do, if anything, because sometimes if things are going well, it's not always a good idea to mess with the chemistry.
