18 NHL Players On Waivers As Teams Make Final Moves Before The Season.

The National Hockey League regular season is right around the corner and that means teams are making some tough roster decisions as they make their final moves to get their salary cap in order prior to the season getting under way.

On Saturday that meant a huge number of established NHL veterans found themselves on the waiver wire, with 18 players in total being waived around the league. While most teams won't be looking to add to their roster at this time of year, I wouldn't be surprised if one or more of these players ends up claimed by a rival team.

While several teams around the league put multiple players on waivers in a single day, the star of the show today is without a doubt the New York Islanders who put a whopping 5 players on waivers on Saturday.
