2017 SHL Champion goalie signs with NHL team.

The SHL's Championship winning goaltender is coming to the National Hockey League.

On Thursday the New York Islanders announced that they had come to terms on an NHL deal with goaltender Linus Soderstrom who is coming off a very strong regular season and a solid playoff performance for HV71 Jonkoping.

Soderstrom was a fourth round draft pick of the Islanders all the way back in 2014, and he has continued to develop in Sweden eventually convincing the Islanders to bring him over to North America.

The Islanders already have a ton of goaltenders in their system however, so what the future holds for Soderstrom at this point is completely up in the air.
