If you're a young goaltender trying to get noticed in the National Hockey League's preseason, one way to do it is by making what will unquestionably be one of the candidates for save of the year.

23-year-old Calgary Flames prospect Jon Gilles shocked the Vancouver Canucks and every single person in the Scotiabank Saddledome when he absolutely robbed the Canucks of what looked like a sure goal.

The puck deflected off a skate right in front of Gilles, and it looked like it was destined to fall into the net behind him, but Gilles showed unbelievable athleticism and hand-eye coordination by reaching behind him to make the save.

You've got to see it to believe it.
