3 coaches for Canada at the World Championship revealed.

Multiple reports indicate the roles have been filled.

Although we are still a little less than a month away from the upcoming International Ice Hockey Federation's World Championship of hockey, it sounds like some of the first pieces of that puzzle are starting to come together for one of the favorites at the tournament.

On Monday morning in a series of 3 reports over the course of roughly an hour, we learned the identity of 3 of the men who will serve as coaches for Team Canada at the upcoming tournament. It was TSN's Claire Hanna who would break the first bit of news with Hanna reporting that Ottawa Senators head coach DJ Smith would be named to the team, adding that she expected him to be named one of Canada's assistant coaches.

Hanna's colleague at TSN would follow up on that report with National Hockey League insider Darren Dreger adding Claude Julien's name to the list of coaches to be added to Team Canada ahead of this tournament. According to Dreger it will be Julien who serves as the head coach for Canada at this tournament, an interesting decision given some of the health concerns he has had as of late.

Last but not least we had NHL insider Pierre LeBrun chime in with a detail of his own on this topic. LeBrun added that Arizona Coyotes head coach Andre Tourigny would also be among those serving in a coaching capacity for Canada at the World Championship, although unlike the other 2 LeBrun did not specify in what role Tourigny would be serving. He did add that he would be behind the bench alongside Smith and Julien though, which leads me to believe that he will serve as an assistant under Julien and alongside Smith.

It's no coincidence given the timing of this tournament that all 3 of the men chosen for these roles are either currently coaching teams in the NHL that are out of the playoffs, or in Julien's case not coaching in the NHL altogether. No doubt that will be reflected when it comes to the Canadian roster as well.
