The Toronto Maple Leafs are already dealing with some hurdles in training camp, this in spite of the fact that it has only been a few days since players hit the ice.

On Saturday morning, 3 Maple Leafs were notably absent as their fellow teammates hit the ice with two sidelined by injuries and a third sidelined due to illness.

Out with an illness is goaltender Joseph Woll who has struggled to remain healthy throughout his career in the National Hockey League thus far. Thankfully this is only an illness and shouldn't derail his preparations for the season in any way.

On the more serious side of things are both forward Nicolas Roy and defenseman Simon Benoit. Roy is out due to a lower body injury while Benoit is being ruled out due to an upper body injury.

This is a particularly tough break for Roy who is coming into this training camp on a new team and with the challenge of learning a new system ahead of him. Outside of 7 games with the Carolina Hurricanes, Roy had spent his entire NHL career leading up to this point as a member of the Vegas Golden Knights. Roy is coming off of a season that saw him put up 15 goals and 16 assists over 71 games with Vegas last year.

Benoit on the other hand is very familiar with the Maple Leafs system and one can only hope that his current injury won't have too great of an impact on his preparations for the upcoming 2025-26 NHL regular season.

No word yet on how long any of these players are expected to be sidelined for, but stay tuned for additional details on this developing story.
