The league is taking the matter seriously!
A controversial move took place last night in the game between the Edmonton Oilers and Tampa Bay Lightning.
Midway through the second period, Oilers forward Zack Kassian got tangled up with Lightning defenseman Erik Cernak and kicked him in the chest.
Blade out, straight in the stomach, Kassian did not seem to hesitate and went on playing.
The league has decided to offer an in person hearing to Kassian for his actions. This means they have the right to suspend him six games or more.
Clearly, the NHL is not messing around with this type of dangerous play!
Some people believe this could be a season-ending suspension...
