8 players scratched for Oilers vs. Sharks including one very big name.

The San Jose Sharks and Edmonton Oilers are set to face off tonight but both sides won't be 100%.

Sportsnet's senior columnist Mark Spector has just reported that eight men will be scratched prior to tonight's game but there's one name that stands out above all the rest.

The 4 scratches for the Oilers tonight will be Matt Hendricks, Anton Slepyshev, Jujhar Khaira and Matt Benning. The Sharks however will be without Michael Haley, Kevin Leblanc, Dylan Demelo and most notably Joe Thornton.

The loss of a veteran player like Joe Thornton prior to a huge playoff series where many are already viewing the Oilers as favorites is a huge blow to the Sharks.
