A “big bad Bruin” gets second chance with rival team

The New Jersey Devils have invited right winger Jimmy Hayes to training camp next month on a professional tryout.


Hayes Took part in just 58 games for the Boston Bruins last season, in part due to injury, the forward also spent time as a healthy scratch. Hence, the Bruins bought out his contract earlier this summer. Last season, he registered two goals and five points, along with 29 penalty minutes. 

The former Toronto Maple Leafs second round pick in 2008 stands at 6-foot-5, and weighs 215 pounds. 

In a career-high 75 games in his first season with the Bruins in 2015-16, Hayes scored 13 goals and 16 assists, and spent 60 minutes in the sin bin.
