While it doesn't change the fact that Frederik Andersen is off to a very rough start as a Toronto Maple Leaf, Thursday night's bounce back game was a much needed positive for the young goaltender.

In a tough and close game against the Florida Panthers, opposite veteran goaltender Roberto Luongo, Andersen shined, stopping all but two of the shots he faced in the contest, leading his Leafs to a 3-2 victory. Leafs superstar Auston Matthews was held off the score sheet, and despite the fact that Mitch Marner assisted on every goal, head coach Mike Babcock was quick to point out that Andersen was the team's best player on the night.

"It just goes to show you how important goaltending is. I'm real happy for Freddy," said Babcock as per TSN's Mark Masters.

After posting an .851 save percentage through his first five games as a Leaf, Andersen's .935 save percentage through 60 minutes last night was a drastic change, and was much more representative of the performance the Leafs were expecting when they acquired Andersen in a trade with the Ducks.
