It's the time of year where fans of teams good and bad get excited for the NHL trade deadline, and it's also the time of year when people like to think up possible trades that could take place in the coming days. This one stood out to us because it made a lot of sense, and it comes from Editor at The Score Craig Hagerman, who put on his general manager hat to think up a potential deal that would bring defenseman Travis Hamonic to the Edmonton Oilers.

Hagerman proposed the Oilers trade forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, and defenseman Justin Schultz to the New York Islanders for defenseman Travis Hamonic, forward Frans Nielsen, and a second-round pick.

The Oilers give up a highly skill forward with several years of control in RNH and get a talented defenseman with control back in Travis Hamonic. Meanwhile Schultz and Nielsen are two players who would allow the Oilers and Islanders to plug the holes left by the departing players. Schultz comes with RFA control however, and despite his lacklustre performance in Edmonton he brings more value than Nielsen who is a UFA at the end of the season, and that's where the second round pick comes in.

What do you think of this fantasy trade? Which side wins in this deal?
