Still lots of young talent in Chicago

It was one heck of an off season for the Stanley Cup champs. They go from winning their 3rd cup in 6 years. Having to make some big trades to once again fix their cap problems and unfortunately Patrick Kane once again has drawn some bad press to himself. The Hawks moved some big names out including Brandon Saad and Patrick Sharp but didn’t lose them for nothing. They got some solid pieces back from Columbus and Dallas and should once again challenge for another strong playoff run. With the core they have, they have a chance every year

Here is a look at some of the top prospects in the Blackhawks organization:

Artemy Panarin: Chicago picked up this gifted winger from the KHL. He is only 23 and is coming off a great season with SKA St. Petersburg. He even racked up 20 points in his 20 playoff games. There are a lot of people talking that he could challenge McDavid for the Calder and might even play on the left side opposite Patrick Kane. If that happens, he could have quite the season.

Marko Dano: A key part of the Saad trade. After being sent down to the AHL last season, Dano was called back up to Columbus and things really turned around for him. He finished the season with 21 points in 35 games and had at least a point in 10 of Columbus’ last 15 games. The Hawks will be looking for him to continue his progression and step up during this season.

Teuvo Teravainen: Teravainen used the biggest stage last season to show what he can do. He had 4 points in the 6 games of the Stanley Cup Finals and had 10 points in 18 games in the playoffs. He was called up by the Hawks in January last season and worked hard to earn a spot on the third line. He is a very gifted player and can easily slide into one of those openings on the top lines. If that happens, he could be very dangerous.

Ville Pokka: Acquired from the Islanders back in 2014, Pokka was solid for Rockford in the AHL. In his first season in North America, he was second in scoring as a rookie and as a defenseman for the team. With the openings in Chicago, he might get his chance to prove what he can do.

Ryan Hartman: A guy who likes to mix it up and is full of energy. We got a small sample of what he can bring to Chicago last season. He will definitely be looking to make his place during the pre season and is definitely a guy who won`t back down from a challenge.

Trevor van Riemsdyk: He earned a spot out of camp last season as the 6th defenseman. He didn’t have the season he wanted breaking his knee cap and need wrist surgery, keeping him out from November to June. However, he was back in the lineup during the Stanley Cup finals and was able to raise the cup. Not a bad way to bounce back. Look for him to once again have a strong camp and move up the depth chart.
