It appears a major deal could be in the works between the Philadelphia Flyers and Montreal Canadiens.
According to Montreal based blog DLC, Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin sent two scouts to the Flyers' game against the Devils on Friday. Flyers' GM Ron Hextall equally sent a scout to Montreal’s game in Carolina Saturday night.
DLC suggests that a trade could be in the works for Wayne Simmonds. The Canadiens have had him on their radar for some time and with the Flyers sitting at 11-11-5 on the season, they may look to make some moves. They suggest that a possible deal packaging both Nathan Beaulieu and Sven Andrighetto could be enough to convince Philadelphia to part with Simmonds.
This trade could be beneficial for both sides, as the Habs' need a winger and the Flyers a D-man.
Beaulieu is quickly becoming a top-four defenseman in this league and his combination of physicality and skill could prove useful to Philly. Andrighetto possesses speed and can score on the wing.
Simmonds could bring a level of physicality to the Canadiens that the team seems to lack. He is also excellent on the power-play and the Habs' PP-unit ranks in the top 5 in the NHL.
The Habs' waived Alexander Semin on Monday, leaving a hole on the wing and Simmonds could net a big return at the moment. Is this a fair trade for both teams involved?
