The Toronto Maple Leafs face some tough competition next season and one rival is none other than superstar singer Taylor Shift. As Editor in Leaf puts it, Swift will performing down the street at the Rogers Centre for her Eras Tour from Nov. 14-16 and again from Nov. 21-23, 2024 and has beaten the Maple Leafs as the top attraction in Toronto.
What is however more concerning for some die-hard fans of the hockey club is the rumoured curse that comes along with Swift. Because while the Maple Leafs have been linked to a number of curses in the past seasons, there is the famous “Taylor Swift Curse” and with the pop star coming to TO, fans worry the bad luck will come with her.
“In 2015, Swift was doing her 1989 tour. It became noticeable that wherever she had performed, sports teams would go on losing streaks immediately following her departure.”
The Leafs were finally able to put an end to the first round curse this past spring when they finally reached the second round after beating the Tampa Bay Lightning in six games. They however fell to the Florida Panthers next.
With that first-round curse finally overcome, it sounds like a new one was doomed to take over. Thanks a lot Taylor Swift.
