Adrian Kempe punished by NHL Player Safety for dirty play on Connor McDavid
The NHL looks out for its Golden Boy.
This just in, NHL Player Safety has fined Los Angeles Kings forward Adrian Kempe $5,000 for an illegal slew foot trip on Edmonton Oilers captain and the NHL's top superstar Connor McDavid.
The slew foot came midway through the 3rd period of last night's 1-0 win for the Oilers on a play that went seemingly unnoticed by the officials.
Check it out:
While some fans may not agree with the NHL's insistence on fining an unpenalized play, I'm actually in full agreement with NHL Player Safety's ruling. It's up to the league to protect its star players, even if the officials won't do it. I may not be popular with Kings fans for that assessment of things, but the fact of the matter is that the NHL is a lot more exciting with McDavid playing in it than not.
