AHL game ends early after a medical emergency brings it to a halt.
The American Hockey League has just seen one of their games on the schedule today come to a premature end, but everyone's thoughts are on the health and safety of fan that was in attendance for that game.
During Saturday's game between the Manitoba Moose and Laval Rocket, the game was forced to come to a screeching halt in the third period when a fan in attendance for the game suddenly experienced a medical emergency in the crowd. In a great show of class, the Rocket, who were losing badly by a score of 3-0 with just a little over a minute left in the game, made the difficult decision to call the game right then and there.
As a result the final 1 minute and 12 seconds of the game will not be played, leaving us with a final score of 3-0 for the Moose over the Rocket.
The Rocket released the following announcement following the incident on Saturday:
There has been no medical update on the fan who experienced the medical emergency as of yet, but I can only hope that they will make a full and speedy recovery.
Last but not least I would like to tip my cap to the Rocket who, on an afternoon that was supposed to be all about hockey, reminded everyone that there are things that should take precedents over the game on the ice by living by those words.
