One of the best stories from the 2025 NHL Draft came at the very end of the day.
This will go down as one of the very best stories of this year's National Hockey League Entry Draft, and it happened as the draft was wrapping up and nearly everyone had already left the building.
The draft is a very exciting time of the year for hockey fans but even the most die hard of fans usually tune out after the first few rounds of the draft, knowing full well that the players selected in the later rounds of the draft are usually considered longshots to make the NHL. One man who stuck around for the whole show however was Aidan Park, an NHL hopeful that wasn't expecting to be selected at this year's draft.
Park, who is from the Southern California area, decided that he would show up to the draft anyways to enjoy the spectacle, and sat in the audience through all seven rounds of the draft when he got the surprise of a lifetime.
There were only 2 picks remaining in the entire draft when the Edmonton Oilers were put on the clock. I'm sure you've guessed by now but the Oilers did indeed select Aidan Park who had been sitting out in the crowd throughout the whole event, with Park jumping up to his feet and walking to the stage in shorts and a hoodie. Park wasn't dressed for the occasion but that didn't matter one bit, as his name had just been called by an NHL team.
