The Senators have begun examining the trade market for forward Alex DeBrincat and on Wednesday it was the forward’s turn to make a move in a potential move taking place in Ottawa. According to Pierre LeBrun, DeBrincat’s camp has submitted a list of preferred destinations to the team in order to see what trade partners could be interested out there. This is what LeBrun revealed on Insider Trading on TSN:

“What’s happened here is that Alex DeBrincat’s camp, led by agent Jeff Jackson, has submitted a list of preferred destinations, teams that his client would be interested in joining, and the reason that’s significant is of course if Pierre Dorion does trade Alex DeBrincat, he would want him to be signed through this trade to get the maximum value back in return. Think of the Matthew Tkachuk deal from Calgary to Florida last year. So, I don’t know exactly who is on that list, but that list has been submitted."

While GM Dorion mentioned back in February that there was “no chance” he would trade DeBrincat, we can see how things have changed…

DeBrincat was acquired by Ottawa on draft day last July. The Senators sent the seventh overall pick, the 39th overall pick, and a 2024 third-round pick to the Blackhawks in the transaction. Chicago went out to draft defenseman Kevin Korchinski and forward Paul Ludwinski with the selections.

DeBrincat scored 27 goals and registered 66 points in his first year with Ottawa, ranking fourth on the team in both categories, but might ended up on a new roster starting next season.
