Alex DeBrincat ties Red Wings franchise record

The biggest need for the Detroit Red Wings over the past several years was a bonafide goal scoring forward, and they've gotten everything they could have expected out of the player that they acquired to fill that need.

Farmington Hills native and two-time 40 goal scoring forward Alex DeBrincat was acquired this summer from the division rival Ottawa Senators, and he's done nothing but light the lamp since his regular season debut with Detroit. So far through the first four games, DeBrincat already has himself five goals, which has included netting a pair of tallies in both of his games played at Little Caesars Arena.

And thanks to his tremendous start, he's tied a Red Wings franchise record. With eight points in his first five games, he's tied with Paul Coffey, Dutch Reibel and Jud McAtee for the most points through a player's first four games donning the Winged Wheel.

And as if that weren't enough, he's being recognized by the National Hockey League Players Association as their Player of the Week: 

He'll have a chance to face his former team with whom he played a single season with last year in the Ottawa Senators, as Detroit heads to the Canadian capitol city to face their division rival tomorrow afternoon.
