There has been a lot of talk surrounding Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin this season, talk that would be more accurately described as speculation about the end of Ovechkin's career.

Now 81 games into the Capitals season we still have no definitive answer when it comes to what the future holds for Ovechkin, but on Sunday afternoon Ovechkin may have provided the first glimpse into what his thoughts on that future may be.

Ovechkin and the Capitals faced off against arguably their greatest rivals in Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins on Sunday, with the Capitals emerging victorious by a score of 3-0 in what was a must-win game as far as the Capitals' playoff hopes are concerned, but it would be after the game had ended that Ovechkin may have given us a clue.

Crosby and the Penguins lined up to shake hands with Ovechkin, obviously believing that this could be the last meeting between the two historic rivals, but instead of welcoming the line of handshakes, Ovechkin would wave the Penguins off the ice. The Penguins lingered for a few moments but Ovechkin was adamant, leading to the Penguins heading back to the visitors locker room without that final handshake.

Could this be Ovechkin letting his greatest rival know that their rivalry isn't over just yet? You can look at the replay and judge for yourselves:

The fans in Washington certainly seem to think so:
