We all know the type of heat Alexis Lafrenière has been getting, especially after failing to impress during the New York Rangers’ short playoff run this past spring. The expectations have been high on the 2020 first overall pick and let’s just say the pay on his new contract with the Rangers isn’t…
According to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, New York and Lafreniere closing in on a two-year extension in the $2.3M area.
Before the report from Friedman, it was well-known that New York had roughly only $2.3 million in space. They filled that hole and are now full.
Lafrenière knew a contract was coming as he never worried about his future.
It is now set in stone, though Lafrenière better impress in the next two years in order to get the type of pay we all expected a first overall pick to be able to cash in.
