All the details on a horrible week for Evander Kane.
Evander Kane publicly humiliated by his estranged wife.
It has been a horrible week for Evander Kane. When you consider the fact that his agent has been hard at work, even publicly, trying to find him a new team to play on, the timing couldn't be any worse.
Evander Kane has been going through a very messy and very public divorce with his wife, Anna Kane, and unfortunately for the National Hockey League star it has resulted in his wife airing much of their dirty laundry to the public. That has ranged from Anna accusing her husband of fixing NHL games for the criminal underground, to accusations of him courting prostitutes during their marriage, and all of it has looked really bad for Evander Kane's professional career.
As ugly as all that had been so far however, things took a much uglier turn this week when those accusations went from words on a screen to actual video footage. That began when Anna Kane published a video online, which has since been deleted, accusing Evander Kane of pointing a gun at her.
You can see the clip as it was captured before being taken offline:
Evander Kane's agent, Dan Milstein, would respond to these accusations by publishing a public statement claiming the footage was from a "photoshoot" in 2020.
There was another, and in my opinion even more disturbing, video published by Anna Kane this week which appears to show a verbal argument between the estranged couple. In the video we can only see what appears to be footage from a baby camera, but the couple can be heard engaging in a heated argument. The troubling part comes when Anna Kane, in the audio recorded in the video, appears to claim that Evander Kane has struck their child.
Warning: Portions of this audio are loud.
Of course these are 2 people going through a very messy divorce and I have no doubt that there is a lot more at play here for both parties than simply a genuine concern for truth and justice. Reports from the divorce hearing this week also paint Anna Kane in an unfavorable light, an important reminder that there are always 2 sides to every story.
Through that hearing we learned that Evander Kane allegedly discovered that Anna Kane had terminated a pregnancy without informing her husband. Even worse, Evander Kane reportedly only learned of the abortion after a team trainer reviewed one of his insurance forms.
As if that wasn't bad enough, Anna Kane is accused of wearing padding to make it look as though she was still pregnant in an effort to mislead her husband. The court would then hear that, after the truth was discovered, Anna Kane mocked her husband about the abortion.
I'm unaware of what pieces of evidence were presented in court to support these claims made by Evander Kane, but they were compelling enough that he remains the custodial parent of the couple’s 16-month-old daughter and Anna Kane will now be forced to undergo a psych evaluation by order of the court and will be limited to supervised visits with her child.
Anna Kane has since published a lengthy rant on her Instagram account in which she openly acknowledges she is in violation of the courts gag order. She refutes the claim that the video of Evander Kane pointing a gun at her was the result of a photoshoot, she argues that Kane's money, power and influence are what have led to these court decisions, and has vowed that she will no longer remain silent on this matter moving forward.
In cases such at this it is impossible to tell who is being truthful and who is lying, and oftentimes when feelings are involved you can find some of both on either side of the equation. The one thing we can be certain of after an extremely ugly week between these 2, is that this is far from over.
