I can't remember anything like this EVER happening!
Referees in Carolina this made about the closest call you will ever see in an NHL playoff game.
After it looked like Carolina Hurricanes forward Mark Jankowski appeared to score the OT winner and give his team a 2-0 series win, Ottawa Senators head coach Travis Green appealed to the officials for an offside review.
After the closest of margins it was ruled that the Hurricanes actually WERE offside. No goal.
But, that's only half the story.
Because the play was blown down on a delayed call for a Senators penalty on a breakaway from 'Canes forward Jordan Martinook, the officials called for a penalty shot.
Okay, so the 'Canes didn't win, but now they have a penalty shot to win the game.
Unfortunately for the Hurricanes, Martinook was absolutely ROBBED by Senators goalie Linus Ullmark, who has been outstanding this evening.
