UPDATE: Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Joseph Woll has left tonight's game against the Ottawa Senators with an apparent leg or groin injury.

Check it out:

Back up Martin Jones has now entered the game. Woll left the ice without putting any weight on his left leg.

The Ottawa Senators host the Toronto Maple Leafs in Ottawa this evening and... well.. the Leafs better thank goaltender Joseph Woll for being ready nice and early.

Midway through the 1st period in a scoreless game Woll made an absolutely ridiculous glove save off of of Vladimir Tarasenko!

Lareceny!

For our earlier report on Senators defenseman Thomas Chabot and his injury status, read below.

According to a report from TSN insider Darren Dreger, Ottawa Senators defenseman Thomas Chabot will be out of the team's lineup for a minimum of four weeks due to an undisclosed injury. The good news is that Chabot will reportedly NOT need surgery to repair whatever damage he sustained.

From Dreger:

Chabot has been undergoing medical tests since suffering an injury this past weekend in the Senators' 2-0 win over the Seattle Kraken.

The 26 year old defenseman has played just nine games so far this season after breaking his hand back in October. It's safe to say that the blue liner has had difficulty staying healthy over the course of his career. He's played more than 70 games in a full season just twice in his seven year long pro career. He has four points in nine games so far this season, averaging more than 24 minutes per game.

It's safe to say that his absence from the lineup has been a pig part of the reason why the Senators have failed to gain any real traction this season. He's a key part of their lineup, but he just can't seem to keep himself healthy. Here's hoping that he can bounce back in time to help this team turn their season around.

The Sens are currently dead last in the NHL's Atlantic Division with a dismal 10-10-0 record in 20 games to start the campaign. Even more concerning though is the fact that the team is four wins and eight points behind the Toronto Maple Leafs for the last playoff Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference. Safe to say, that that's NOT where this team was hoping to be just two months into the 2023-24 campaign. At this point, I think everyone is just waiting for the other shoe to drop and for interim GM Steve Staios to finally, mercifully give head coach D.J. Smith the boot. It's clear to me that the team has either tuned out Smith's message or that his system just isn't good enough for this team to get ahead in a tough division.
