An emotional Bruce Boudreau acknowledges the fans after his final game.

The fans love him.

It was an emotional night in Vancouver on Saturday night, mostly for the fans in attendance at Rogers Arena and for Vancouver Canucks head coach Bruce Boudreau. Everyone in the building knew that this would be Boudreau's final game behind the bench of the Canucks and boy did the fans ever show up in force to cheer on the over 40 year National Hockey League veteran.

Boudreau has become one of the more beloved figures in the sport during his many years as both a coach and a player in the NHL and that was on full display on Saturday night when chants of "Bruce there it is" rang out through the arena at several points during the game.

Even when the Canucks dropped an early lead to the Edmonton Oilers, the fans responded by showing their support for Boudreau with their first chant of the night.

There was one chant in particular that stood out above all the rest though and that would be the final one that the fans would give Boudreau after the game. You can imagine that Boudreau desperately would have wanted a win, but unfortunately the players once again failed to deliver for their embattled head coach and eventually fell to their Edmonton rivals.

The fans did not disappoint though, and in spite of the loss they showered Boudreau with love before he headed back into the Canucks' locker room.
