An emotional farewell from Matthew Tkachuk.

The Calgary Flames have lost two star players in a short span during the course of this offseason and although you might think the departure of both players is being viewed in the same manner, judging by the reaction on social media that does not appear to be the case.

Either due to the fact that the Flames received a king's ransom in exchange for him or due to the fact that he has taken the time to explain the thought process he went through, former Calgary Flames forward Matthew Tkachuk seems to be coming out of this with his fan base in Calgary still largely intact.

On Sunday night, Tkachuk once again ingratiated himself to his former fan base when he published an emotional message on his social media. The message was very much a farewell to the city of Calgary, one in which Tkachuk thanked the city, the Flames organization and the Flames fan base for all of their support over the years and their continued support down the line.

Here is his message:
