An emotional Tristan Jarry breaks down poor performance against his former team

The Oilers goalie surrendered three goals in just 37 seconds and got lit up for half a dozen in a 6-2 loss.

It wasn't the night that Tristan Jarry had hoped for last night in Edmonton.

The Edmonton Oilers goaltender faced off against his former team, the Pittsburgh Penguins, for the first time since last month's blockbuster trade and... well... he blew it.

Jarry got lit up for 3 goals in just 37 seconds in the game's 1st period and that was pretty much a wrap.

Ultimately, he'd let in six goals and the Oilers would fall 6-2 to the visiting Penguins.

Ouch..

After the game Jarry broke down his poor performance and owned his part in another bad Oilers' loss.

”You always want to beat your old team. It doesn’t matter who or when, so obviously it always means a little extra,” Jarry told NHL.com. “I think if I could keep one or two of those out early, it gives us a better fighting chance.”

That's stating the obvious, but honestly Jarry isn't really to blame for the Oilers' loss last night. The fact of the matter is that the Oilers team-defensive game has been disjointed all season long. I'm sure the Stuart Skinner for Jarry swap was made in-part to correct the issue, but ultimately they need an overhaul of how they play in the defensive zone.

Until that happens, this team will always surrender scoring chances.
