An update on Derek Forbort after Canucks announce that he has left the team
Canucks insider Rick Dhaliwal with the inside scoop.
UPDATE: Canucks insider Rick Dhaliwal reports that Forbort is not expected to be away from the Canucks long-term.
The Vancouver Canucks have announced that defenseman Derek Forbort has left the team for personal reasons. The team has not given any indication if/when Forbort will return to action. In the meantime, Erik Brannstrom has been recalled from the AHL's Abbotsford Canucks.
From Canucks GM Patrik Allvin:
The 32 year old Forbort has played three games for the Canucks this season after signing a one year, $1.5 million contract with the team on July 1st this past offseason. He was signed as a depth option for the team following three seasons with the Boston Bruins and nine pro seasons overall.
We can only speculate on Forbort's absence from the team, which wouldn't be fair. Until we know his reasons for leaving the team, all we can do is wish him the best.
