An update on John Tavares from coach Craig Berube
Plus a quick update on Calle Jarnkrok.
This just in, Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube has announced that forwards John Tavares and Calle Jarnkrok have both been cleared to practice with the team and will return to the ice on Wednesday.
From Berube courtesy of Leafs reporter David Alter:
Tavares has been out of the lineup since receiving a cheap shot from Montreal Canadiens' forward Michael Pezzetta in pre-season action. He missed this past Saturday's pre-season rematch against the Habs. Jarnkrok was injured in the Leafs' pre-season game against the Ottawa Senators.
It's presumed that with Tavares and Jarnkrok both available for the Leafs' preseason game against the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday evening that forwards Ryan Reaves and Steven Lorentz will draw out of the lineup. I'd expect Tavares to center a third line spot between Max Pacioretty and Nick Robertson, while Jarnkrok will play on the 4th line with David Kampf and Pontus Holmberg.
